To us, ‘family’ means community...
...so everyone's included; parents, kids, friends and neighbours.
Although it might sound wholesome and harmless, the word ‘family’ covers us all, which makes families incredibly powerful. No politician or CEO can afford to ignore what families say. Especially when we say it together.
Our Story
FACE started as a playground conversation between parents back in 2018. A few of us had read about the landmark climate report from the UN / IPCC, and were feeling a bit shaken.
The report said that if we carry on burning fossil fuels at the current rate, the planet will get so hot during our children’s lifetimes, that it will struggle to support life as we know it.
It pointed out that unless we turn things around over the next decade, the damage could be irreversible.

That warning cleared the to-do list somewhat. We knew we had to get our heads out the sand and take action, but not being experts or campaigners in those days, it was hard to know where to begin.
So we put the kettle on. We started meeting up, thought up a name, and talked over the skills and interests we could bring to the table. Soon enough, because we were a group with a name and a purpose, people started listening to us.
Our first task was to campaign for our local authority to declare a Climate Emergency. We got to know our councillors, demonstrated outside the Town Hall and spoke at Council meetings, something none of us had done before.
We were told, after the unanimous vote in favour, that simply seeing ordinary working parents speak from the heart about their children’s futures helped to sway the opinion of councillors who were undecided.
This experience showed us the impact we can have when we make our voices heard loud and clear, and we wanted to help others do the same.

What we do...
The FACE network raises awareness about the climate and nature crises, and brings people together to scale up action and push for change.
We help set up action groups in schools, communities and around particular interests, and bring together existing groups to share knowledge and amplify our message.
We organise and spread the word about family-friendly events, campaigns, workshops and more.
Our members are always initiating or mucking in with local hands-on conservation and rewilding projects.
Our work alongside the Schools Climate Network, whose aim is to reduce emissions and enable climate and nature education.
We support and scrutinise local political leaders to make sure genuine action on climate and nature is taken as quickly as possible.

Who are we? Why take action?

Our mission and values
We believe the more we do now, the better the future will be for our children.
We are an inclusive network and we reach out to people from different social and political backgrounds.
We are politically active, but politically neutral; we do not support any party.
We take action without breaking the law.
We’re always up for trying new ways of bringing change
We emphasise that climate change and nature loss are infinitely interconnected.
